Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival
Overnight flight from London Heathrow to Bangkok with British Airways/Qantas.

Days 2 & 3: Bangkok
Spend two nights in Thailand's dazzling capital city. Perhaps a visit to one of the many temples, the Grand Palace or the floating market - there is much to see.

Days 4 & 5: Yangon
Fly to Yangon with Thai Airways or Bangkok Airways where you stay for two days. Myanmar's capital still has many vestiges of its colonial past. An afternoon sightseeing is included on your day of arrival, which includes a visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda.

Day 6: Road To Mandalay  
Fly to Mandalay and join the Road To Mandalay for lunch and the start of your exploration of rural Myanmar. Sightseeing in Mandalay at the markets and temples and then onto dinner and your first night on board.

Day 7:Road To Mandalay - Sagaing
Visit Sagaing, the living centre of the Buddhist faith in Burma and famous for its silversmiths who still work in much the same way as their ancestors did. Sail for Bagan and watch the unfolding river scenes of everyday life along this mighty waterway. Enjoy on-board lecture on the Myanmar way of life and demonstrations of local customs.

Day 8: Road To Mandalay - Bagan
Morning disembarkation in Bagan where over 2,000 temples and pagodas remain on this awe-inspiring plain. A guided orientation tour introduces you to the most important temples. After lunch on board, explore independently or take a sunset tour of this remarkable, unforgettable region.

Day 9: Road To Mandalay - Mount Popa
Excursion to Mount Popa, home to the legendary Nats (spirit gods), where there is a picturesque complex of monasteries and shrines on top of a rocky crag. Lunch at a nearby hotel with beautiful panoramic views.

Day 10: Road To Mandalay - Bagan 
Relax on board or explore the many wonders of Bagan or the local market and craft shops until mid-morning when the ship sails for Mandalay.

Day 11: Road To Mandalay - Shwe Kyet Yet  
Arrive after lunch at the little village of Shwe Kyet Yet and enjoy a visit to the ancient capital Ava with its magnificent teak monastery.

Day 12: Road To Mandalay  Maymyo
Visit Maymyo, a colonial hill station set high in the Shan mountains. Soak up the atmosphere with its cool climate, English-style houses, colourful market and beautiful botanic gardens. Enjoy a typical Shan lunch at a local restaurant.

Days 13 & 14: Departure 
Disembark the Road To Mandalay and fly to Yangon. Later board your flight to Bangkok and onto London, arriving on Day 14.
